Common neighborhood migrants

Last night, as the sun was setting I looked up and saw a huge, huge flock of black birds that were too high for me to ID.  The European Starling and Crow populations have suddenly burgeoned.  Obviously, a product of migration.  I assumed they were going to roost and wondered where.  It is interesting because Florida has so many year round residents of both, so why do some become migrants and some stay here?

Of course, I didn’t have the camera.  I am waiting for a new Xd memory card from Amazon.  Getting impatient.  -SLB
