England, 2007 (batch #2)

So, onto the next batch…

Image

Many birds have poor names, but this bird sings “chiff chaff, chiff chaff, chiff chaff”

Image

Over exposed – yes.  Extra cute – maybe.  Upside down – certainly!  It’s a keeper!

Image

Coot

I don’t usually get this close to a coot, but this one didn’t seem to mind!

Image

Coots with chicks

They’re SO ugly, they’re beautiful!  Well, perhaps to their parents they are?

Image

Male and Female Falcated Ducks

I think this turned out to be a ‘Falcated’ duck.  It’s not a native species, so it must have escaped.

Image

Fieldfare

A winter (thrush-like) species, the Fieldfare.

Image

Fulmar

I never thought I’d stumble across a Fulmar!  But I did – just the once.

Image

Golden Plovers

A hundred Golden Plovers (with N. Lapwings, Black-headed Gulls and European Starlings).

Image

Goldfinch

Our Goldfinches are rather different from the less colourful (but more aptly named) Goldfinch of the US!

Goldfinch Pair

Here’s a (presumed) pair of them a little closer.  More tomorrow….
