I am pretty sure I know what this bird is, but winter shorebirds can be tough, the smaller ones, anyhow.  As far as ID, give me a beautiful Marbled Godwit, any day.  Or a cute little Ruddy.  This bird is about four inches shorter than a Willet, had definite yellow legs.  You can see the feathers, coloring (fairly well) barring, etc.  One characteristic that stood out was how yellow the half of the beak closest to the head was.  This is a bird that does not seem to fit perfectly into a box.  It was seen on Gulfport Beach, Pinellas County.  -SLB
