What a Lark?

I second “Lark Sparrow”.  It’s the only bird in Sibley’s (beside a “McCown’s Longspur [of the West]) that has that distinctive white crescent under the eye.  I can’t see the dark spot on the chest or the white “towhee-like white tail corners” but the head pattern is a 95%+ match to my eye.  I say this impartially as I’ve never seen one in person, but have trawled through the sparrow pages of my guides many, many times trying to nail down a tricky ID.  I believe your individual is a “drab 1st winter” example.  Very nice, lucky you!  🙂
